The Supreme Court capped the statute of limitations for civil penalties stemming from fraud at five years from when the fraud was committed, not from discovery by investigators.

In essence, there is now zero chance of holding anyone involved in fraud or malfeasance leading to the Great Recession of 2008 and subsequent collapse of the middle class dream financially accountable for their actions.
